Where would we get tacos after 2:00 A.M. ….??
Or, after 9:00 P.M. for that matter…..most of the restaurants are closed by then.

Address some more important Highland Park issues..like educating the current sloppy residents and their littering problem.

I am apalled at such an injustice! to erradicate our Taco Trucks is like cutting out a food supply for a large community. There are people who cannot afford standard restaurants and these forms of ambulant food supliers is all they can afford. The policy makers should reconsider this regulation, since half of them eat out of these lunch trucks. In addition, an hour is hardly enough time to cook any meat. I feel that this is obviously personal interest and another form of greed. Lets try to pass more laws that make sense and not irrational ones.

Highland Park’s Taco Trucks would not be affected……..the law is only for Trucks located in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles.
It affects many areas - City Terrace, Rowland Heights, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel and many many more. Not HP though.

Thumbs up to taco trucks!
Thumbs down on your graffiti logo. Don’t glorify graffiti, especially in the Highland Park area, where there are terrible gang and tagging problems.

You do away with the Taco Trucks, you do away with what has become an American Institution. Everyone in America knows that the best Tacos can be found on the side of the road in East Los Angeles.

On 04-29-08 at Figueroa and Springvale St (uno Market) Tacos Las Palmas was shut down because the traffic ticket officer told the owners to move every hour or faced a $ 1000 fine. Thus the owner’s of such taco stand were forced to move and shut down until another location off the stree would be secured.
What Gloria Molina does not seem to realize is that the people servicing those trucks are paying taxes and provide a service to the community who are not able to afford a restaurant. On the other hand, the tacos prepared there were fresh, healthy and concnvenient to the people who do not have the time to go to a sit down restaurant. Gloria Molina need to understand that the kind of clientele that those trcuks service is quite different from the clientele that goes to a sit restaurant.
Glotria Molina also needs to understand that now she has more unemployed people in the County/City of Los Angeles than before.

Where else do we go after a Dodger game or a long nite of partying? This is something that has a taste of home. May not be Mom’s cooking but but mom would approve.

No way am I going to let the taco trucks be shut down. NO WAY. They are one of the best things about LA, they actually ARE LA!
Agree on the point that the people eating at taco trucks are different from the people going to sit down at a restaurant. It’s not really competition.
We have to keep this bit of LA culture, or else it’s Baja Fresh everywhere…

Taco trucks are one of the reasons that L.A. is great. They are culturally and socio-economically crucial. They must be defended and preserved.

Dear Gloria Molina,
you have too much time in your hands to worry about honest citizens in our community, crime is a more important factor, we are having many murders in your community, which you are not even concern, you want an easy target and shift the focus of major crimes to poor hard working Latinos, all they do is provide a service for all of us that can’t afford to go to fancy restaurants like you to get a taco. You as a community representative have not tried any tacos from a truck, I urge you to go to a taco truck and try a few tacos, the ones that you can’t find at your fancy restaurants like tripas, cabeza, cesos and Lengua, your taste buds will change your mind, and all of you that are opposed I bet you have not tried a fresh taco, go and it will change your mind, I urge you to reconsider your ordinance and insted of criminalizing hard working Latinos and used them as scape goats, focus on gang crimes, and needs for our school programs!!!!
on May 10th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
The best tacos in LA are purchased from these trucks. The new ordinance is ridiculous. What happened to free enterprise?
on May 14th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Letting taco truck operate in this unrestricted manner might seem harmless to you all, but just as surly as Rock & Roll music led to the destruction of our value system, this will lead to lawlessness and open civil warfare. Who can remember the ugly days of 1992 when Los Angeles erupted in an orgy of blood and smoke? Let this sort of lawlessness get a foot hold and trust me, the town will be covered in blood … and taco sauce. WAKE UP ANGELENOS! We need martial law now more than ever. Take back the streets! Beat back the law-breaking, taco-eating, carne asade-loving street eaters. If we don’t act now to defend our very way of life, then who’ll be able to later?
