NELA in the Gray Lady…Again

Ξ July 12th, 2009 | → | ∇ 90042, Drinks, Food, Highland Park, Night Life, Press |

Just another quick note from abroad, but Highland Park received a nice write-up in Sunday’s New York Times travel section.  Johnny’s, the York, and Cafe de Leche get nice plugs along with a few other local businesses.  This of course isn’t the first time our neighborhood has been noticed by New York.  They ran a piece a few years ago comparing the hills of Northeast Los Angeles to Tuscany (a bit of a reach by the resident who gave them that quote) and more recently an article lamenting the economic downturn in Eagle Rock.  Now that we’re LA’s newest “it” neighborhood for hip New Yorkers, I expect gentrification on a Williamsburg scale.  Excuse me while I update my Make Me Move price on zillow.

can they get on with this gentrification already? the cars on my neighbor’s lawn are really unsightly.

Totally, could we speed up the gentrifications please? The bad gang graffiti under the Ave 43 bridge is getting really old.

We should be so luck to have something like Williamsburg happen here. It’s a really cool place. So are we, but, just saying.

Whats with all the negative vie just chill and enjoy that something good is happening in our hood. I know its not a grand or large explosion of activities and places but give it a chance. It didn’t happen over night with the blight that took hold of this wonderful neighborhood and it certainly not going to change over night only one person and block at a time.
